Safety Update

May 31, 2021

Dear Panther School Family:

This letter is to inform patrons of an incident that law enforcement made the school administration aware of regarding our school district this weekend.  Authorities have investigated the incident and assured us students and staff are safe.

The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office and the Foyil Police Department were notified anonymously of a video posted on social media by a Foyil Elementary student.  The video, which was troubling and threatening toward a staff member, was investigated thoroughly by authorities.  The student, who is now going through the legal system process, will also be disciplined in accordance with school policy.

The safety of students and staff of Foyil Public Schools is taken very seriously and is our highest priority in all situations.  We are appreciative of how law enforcement worked together and addressed this concern with the utmost urgency and professionalism for all involved.

Additionally, we want to commend those who came forward with this potential threat and quickly notified law enforcement.  It is imperative that we stress the importance of notifying authorities anytime something can endanger others.

Although we cannot give out any more specific details, you can contact your student’s office if you need further assistance.  Thank you for your support of Foyil Schools and our students.

Sincerely,

Rod Carter, Superintendent
Foyil Public Schools
